Question: How can I use the free DNS service for my domains ;

Our DNS services are high-availability as they are hosted on Amazon's Route53 service with a guaranteed 100% uptime per month. (AWS Route53)
This practically means that the DNS for your domain name has zero downtime risk.

- In which cases do I need the DNS service ;

- Distinguish DNS from hosting.

If your domain has private/local nameservers of the form ns1.mydomain.gr or ns1.serverhostname.gr , but your emails are hosted on another service with the same or another provider, it makes sense for someone else to provide the DNS.

If one and only one server provides DNS + hosting, but emails are in office365, gsuite, webhosting4u.email etc, in case of a failure, even though you have emails with another provider, they will stop working, as the MX Record hosted on this one and only server will be affected.

- DNS for applications/applications

Developers usually create a virtual machine to host a specific application or to serve a specific purpose, but they do not have DNS servers.

With WebHosting|4U's free DNS service, you can provide DNS for the domain hosted on this VPS or dedicated server.

- Your hosting provider does not offer DNS services.

There are cases where a hosting provider, either for websites or for VPS/ded.servers, does not offer free DNS.

You can use our DNS service to cover your needs.

- What are the usage restrictions ;

There is no restriction. You can use our DNS services completely free, regardless of who the registrar or owner is.

The only technical requirement is to set up the relevant nameservers to enable your domain name to function.

- How do I manage DNS records ;

The entire DNS management is completed from our customer area.

We log in to the customer area.
From the main menu, we select Domains -> DNS Management

- If WebHosting|4U is the registrar.

The domain will appear in the list and we will select "Add Zone" from the button on the right.
In the pop-up window that appears, the domain and DNS set will be pre-selected, we select "Add Zone"

- If WebHosting|4U is NOT the registrar

From the "DNS for external domains" field, we select "Add new zone". In the new pop-up window, we will enter the domain name and the set we want. We can start with the default set.

- DNS zone management

Immediately after adding a new domain or new zone, a new option will appear to manage your records and the DNS zone of your domain.

In the new window that appears, you can add the DNS records you want or edit them when needed.

- Backups of DNS zone and records.

If you want to keep a backup of the records you have set up, you can complete it from the "Backups DNS records" option.
